61st ANNUAL SPRING MATINEE RACES

Sunday, April 11  Pinehurst Harness Track | The Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department and the Pinehurst Driving and Training Club would like to invite everyone to the 61st Annual Spring Matinee Races scheduled for Sunday, April 11th at the Pinehurst Harness Track.  Admission is $5.00 per person and gates will open at 11:00 a.m. for parking.  Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with the first of eight races scheduled for 1:30 p.m.  Bleacher seating will be available for general admission as well as food and beverages by Talbert's BBQ and Catering. 

DOWNTOWN PLANTING DAY

Tuesday, May 11 (8:30 - 10:30 am) Free | The Planting Day for the downtown village has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 11.  Volunteers are needed to help plant the flowers throughout the downtown area.  Bring your work gloves and trowel and meet at the Christmas tree in downtown at 8:30 a.m.  Planting Day is sponsored by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department and Pinehurst Garden Club.  Refreshments are provided by local businesses.

MOORE JAZZ & BLUES - ARBORETUM CONCERT SERIES

Saturday, May 15 (2:00 pm - 7:00 pm) Arboretum in Wicker Park | Matthew Marketing, RLM Entertainment, the and the Arts Council of Moore County are pleased to host, "Moore Jazz and Blues" - an Arboretum Concert Series event, on Saturday, May 15th at the Arboretum in Wicker Park. Bring your picnic baskets and lawn chairs for this fabulous FREE concert in the beautiful Arboretum. Food and beverage vendors will also be available.  The incredible jazz line-up includes our local Moore County High School Jazz bands, followed by legendary jazz saxophonist Reggie C, with the John Brown Band jazz quintet featured as the headliner for this incredible concert!  Invite your friends and family to come out for the first jazz event at the Arboretum.  For more information, call (910) 948-2000, or email info@matthewmarketing.com

VINCE GILL CONCERT - ARBORETUM CONCERT SERIES

Saturday, May 29   (7:30 pm - 9:30 pm)  Arboretum in Wicker Park | Co-sponsored by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department, Vince Gill and his band will perform a family outdoor concert at the Pinehurst Arboretum to benefit The First Tee Sandhills, an organization to promote character development and educational opportunities for children through the game of golf.  The concert will be held Saturday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available as of April 12th by contacting Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.  General admission is $22.50.

The Pinehurst Business Guild welcomed nearly 200 artisans, crafters and more as it celebrated the 31st Annual Holly Arts and Crafts Festival.  The event was held Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10am to 4pm, and was located in the heart of Pinehurst's Historic Old Town area. Combining the talents of hand crafters in a variety of genres - from woodworking to glass, stitched art to lawn ornaments, hand-crafted jewelry to metal sculpture.  Area restaurants and food vendors dot the gathering as downtown shops offer sales and specials. This event was well attended and we hope to see you there next year!

Aberdeen Lake Park, US Hwy 1, Aberdeen, NC 28315

The First Annual International Sardine Festival was held in October 1992 and every year there after people gather together in Aberdeen, North Carolina to admire classic automobiles, celebrate good times and graze on the traditional southern delicacy of sardines, moon pies and RC Cola's.

Sponsored by Sandhills Classic Street Rod Association, the 17th Annual International Sardine Festival Benefit Car & Truck Show was held at Aberdeen Lake Park, Aberdeen NC.

Proceeds from the event benefit local charities including Sandhills Teen Challenge and Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Youth Program, Aberdeen, NC.

One of the highlights of the festival is the arrival of the Sardine Queen, who is brought in by a caravan of convertibles, along with her court of past queens.
